WHERE VERSE BECOMES A LEARNING LESSON
ANONYMOUS CHILD LEARNING POEM
I live in a poem
Every line is a window
When I speak, you see many things
If you look closely
You might find me inside

Our Philosophy
{ 2 }
The Reading Is Poetry Program provides students with student-centered instruction in reading, writing and speaking through poetry to help students reach their full potential in school, at home and in life. One goal of Reading is Poetry, LLC is to be "Advocates of Literacy through Poetic License".
Poetic License allows the use of abbreviating a word or the use of phonetic spelling within poetry. Toney developed a method to use slang (urban vernacular) to create new words and meanings. This is just one of the tools used to help students build confidence, fluency, comprehension and more importantly express themselves through poetry. We inspire students to become well read, learn new writing tools, techniques and forms of poetry thus promoting literacy.
